The small but really neat town Khorog is located in a narrow valley just a few Kilometres away from the Afghan border.
People here speak acceptable English and are used to tourists. Anyway, everyone is still very friendly and does not try to scam one. We also never had the feeling that they overcharged us.
As Khorog is one of the main way points on the Pamir Highway, it has a good number on accommodations. The most famous one is probably the Pamir Lodge. Their website says that you can camp at the lodge and use their facilities for three USD, however they charged us seven USD. The Pamir Lodge is very a cosy place but their showers are the worst we have seen so far. It is very, very hard to have a shower with those few drips. You will find more pleasure in a mountain steam.
