Lake Issyk-Kul lays on 1600 meters above sea level and is very touristy in the summertime. In September - at the time of our visit - is nearly everything deserted and the temperatures at a very cosy level.
Around the lake are plenty opportunities to camp with breathtaking views over the Issyk-Kul and the mountain ranges behind. There also are really nice spots to camp on the sandy lake shore. Some of the highlights are the "Seven Bulls" and the "Fairytale" - both have nice and quiet camp spots.
